Keeping It Real
Engineering : Week 1
Engineering: What skill(s) are you training for? What have you learned so far this week? What challenges and celebrations did you encounter? What are your goals for next week? Any surprises?
I the keeping it real project my role is a 3D designer for "VR Worlds". I am learning how to use programs such a Blender of Sketchup to create 3D objects.. Throughout this week I Finally got a general idea of how Blender works. At the beginning of the week, Blender was like a foreign object to me After a few YouTube videos I had finally understand the basics of Blender. A celebration I had this was creating a 3D coffee cup in blender. It took a lot of time but I now know how to make 3D objects. My Goals for next week are to create another 3D object with less dependence on the walk through video. I think the only surprising thing of the week was how hard Blender was to use. It is a very complicated program.

English: How did our study of propaganda and doublespeak impact your thinking about reality? What questions did this study raise for you?
I kind of already knew that double speak and propaganda was used to help sway people to think a certain way. I think of everything the same, but now I know how to spot double speak and propaganda easier. I think the only question that was raised for me is why do people do this and why aren't they just straight out with the American people.

Well I just finally was able to work bender and I am almost finished with my first job. I was able to create an eye for Celeste. It took lots of work because I was struggling to put the eye texture on the object I had created in blender. When I finally was able to do it I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. Befor I thought I would never be able to work blender but now I feel more confident in my skills.

A strategy I use to help working in a place with distractions is just putting headphones and listening to music. I also enjoy 3D- designing so that takes my mind off of the distractions that go on in the classroom.
If a producer in our class changes their mind about an idea they had that then that changes the view of the specialists in the class. Another example is when Dr. Don introduce the concept of money into our project. Now we have to manage our money.

The celebrations I have this work are finishing all of my college apps that are due November 1. This is huge because now most of my stress for college is over. I have also improved on my blender skills making me the best 3D- Designer in the class. I have never experienced Cognitive dissonance in our class because I have mostly agreed with everything that we have talking bout in the class. I like to leave my mind open to new Ideas. I feel like the hashtag packets didn't change my perspective on what they do. I feel like they just informed me more on the two different sides of the argument.

we can probably share our VR world at like a booth with headphones. The viewers could have a few minutes to experince the VR. We could talk about what kind of skills we needed to create the VR and how we came up with the ideas to reach out to the bigger issue. I think the producer could reach out to their bigger issue company and tell them that our school has created a VR for them. The company might use it for their website.
Dewy believed that kids should learn because they want to learn. the should not giving busy work and they should be able to use their creative powers. This project did a good job of letting us use our creative ability, but the money aspect of the project did diminish the fun of the project.
Pink's argument was about how you can't limit creativity and the more money you give as incentive for a project that need a lot cognitive thinking the worse the person is at the project. This can be applied to our school in the way that we are restricted what we can do in our projects.
