Who Am I
A Black person
Cultivated in a white community
Born to to half and half parents
The brother of a light skinned sister
Raised under a roof of attitude
Where unsuccess was prohibited
And results were expected
Afraid to act too white in front of black people
But, afraid to act to black in front of white people
Somewhere caught in Limbo.
Held back by the unseen racism that festers around me.

Basquiat practiced Neo Expressionism which is a style of late-modernist or early-postmodern painting and sculpture that emerged in the late 1970s. Neo Expressionism comprised a various of young artists who were portraying the human body and other recognizable objects, in reaction to the remote, highly intellectualized abstract art production of the 1970s. Among these were often sad emotional tones that reflected contemporary urban life and values, a general lack of concern for idealization, the use of dark colours and the integration of objects that communicate a sense of violence.
5 Basquiat Style Thoughts
The shape of your eyes
Paul Eluard (1926)
The shape of your eyes goes round my heart,
A round of dance and sweetness.
Halo of time, cradle nightly and sure
No longer do I know what I've lived,
Your eyes have not always seen me.
Leaves of day and moss of dew,
Reeds of wind and scented smiles,
Wings lighting up the world,
Boats laden with sky and sea,
Hunters of sound and sources of color,
Scents the echoes of a covey of dawns
Recumbent on the straw of stars,
As the day depends on innocence
The world relies on your pure sight
All my blood courses in its glance.
Echo Poem
Like planets orbiting the sun.
Sweeter than the honey fresh off the comb
A night that was a complete blur
I only know that I have lived it
They sometimes look past
The sun drying up the damp ground
Flowing through the wind effortlessly
Brighten up the lives of everyone
And everything that comes in between
Sounds that being the light to everything
That leave the landscape motionless
And the line of planets
And is decided by violence
Sight that is blind
A glance of pure fear.

“Perfect nonsense goes on in the world. Sometimes there is no plausibility at all”

Surrealism began in the early 1920’s between World Wars I And II by Andre Berton using the ideas of Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx's. Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects and developed painting techniques that allowed them to express themselves. This Included the “Dada Movement” also known as “anti-art,” which is a style of art where in incorporate random events being seen in writing, poetry, art, and movies. Surrealist art strongly emphasized methodological research and experimentation, stressing the work of art as a means for prompting personal psychic investigation and revelation.
